**I'VE UPDATED THE LINK TO THE CORRECT ARTICLE**

Here's a link to a commentary found on CNN.com:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/07/17/beck.che.guevara/index.html?iref=24hours

I found this commentary interesting, as it was a topic of conversation earlier this summer. It points out the absurdity of people in the US wearing Che Guevera t-shirts, trying to show how left and revolutionary their mindset is.

I'll leave it up to y'all to check it out.

ChiSL,

I just read an article about not feeling so tired. I think the link is maybe wrong. How you doing?

Thanks for the heads up; it's been corrected.

First of all, I can't really stomach Glenn Beck (the author of the article). I think his show is pretty ridiculous because he constantly presents his ideas as commonsense when the issues are usually much more complex (the same could be said for Keith Olbermann on the other end of the spectrum). This being said, I do agree that Che shirts don't make sense. As someone that is interested in nonviolence (the way Gandhi and King practiced it), it is frustrating to have members of the left supporting (actively or mistakenly--as many are uninformed) revolutionary violence. If "the left" could put together a coherent message that uniformly rejected violence they would be much more effective and they would altogether avoid these types of (legitimate) criticism.

Chisl - Thanks for starting the discussion

I agree that Glenn Beck is a little too much sometimes (but I still posted a link to another of his editorials a minute ago). After reading this, I had to laugh a little, but also be just a little annoyed with people out there spouting their views while simultaneously being ignorant of something else about their message. (not the most eloquent way of saying that, but hopefully it makes sense.)

I agree that a coherent message supported by an informed group would be best, and help avoid most confusion and criticism. I think getting the population of the group informed is/will be the hardest part of acheiving this.

Does anyone remember Motorcycle Diaries? I think that film did a lot to soften Che's image.

Yeah, that movie made him sexy as hell. Even Glenn Beck went out and bought a Che tubetop the week that opened.
